Boston College finishes sixth in the ACC
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Boston College secured sixth place in the ACC with an 88-81 road win at Syracuse on Sunday afternoon in the final game of the regular season at the Carrier Dome. It is BC's highest finish in the conference since the 2008-09 team placed fifth with a 7-7 conference record.
Boston College is now 18-11 overall and 11-7 in the ACC. The Eagles will play the winner of Miami-Clemson on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the ACC Tournament. Syracuse dropped to 15-14 overall and 9-9 in the ACC.
Sophomore Taylor Soule 26 points and eight rebounds while senior Taylor Ortlepp tallied her season-high 18 points as she hit four three-pointers. Sophomore Makayla Dickens pitched in with 12 points, a team-high nine assists and six rebounds. Sophomore Marnelle Garraud contributed 11 points, while redshirt sophomore Cameron Swartz added 10 points in the win.
The Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter as the combination of Soule and senior Emma Guy scored the first 11 points to give BC a 75-68. A steal by Ortlepp led to her fourth three of the game with 2:28 to play and BC's lead was 83-75. The Eagles defense held Syracuse to just six points in the final two minutes of the game to seal the win.
Syracuse was led by Gabrielle Cooper with 18 points and five rebounds and Kiara Lewis with 18 points and eight assists.

- Boston College shot out to an 11-0 lead behind two three-pointers from Taylor Ortlepp and one from Makayla Dickens. A three-pointer from Marnelle Garraud at 5:08 pushed BC's lead to 18-7. The shootout continued as Syracuse started to hit from long range. The two teams combined for 12 three-pointers made and 24 attempted in the first quarter. BC hit 7-for-14 to take a 29-26 lead after one quarter.
- Dickens hit her third three-pointer to open the second quarter. Syracuse chipped away and tied the game at 43-43 on a three-pointer from Kiera Lewis. The Orange took the lead on a free throw by Lewis, 44-43, with 1:02 to play. BC was held scoreless until Georgia Pineau hit Taylor Soule and the game was tied, 45-45, at the half.
- Marnelle Garraud opened the third with the Eagles ninth three-pointer of the game for a 48-45 lead. Syracuse's Digma Strautmare would hit a three to tie the game at 52-52 with 7:59 to play. The two teams battled through seven ties in the quarter and fittingly finished the third quarter, 64-64. Soule led BC with nine points in the quarter.
- The Eagles stretched the lead to 75-68 behind the play of Soule and Guy (7 points, 6 rebounds). The pair combined for the first 11 points in the quarter. Ortlepp hit a three-pointer at 5:08 and the BC lead was, 78-70. Ortlepp struck again as she stole a pass down low and converted it into her fourth three-pointer as the Eagles lead was 83-75 with 2:28 to play. BC would hold Syracuse to just six points down the stretch for the win.

- Boston College had 23 assists. It was the fourth game that BC had 20-plus assists in a game.
- The two teams tied on the boards with 37 apiece. BC did have one more offensive board with 16 in the game.
