Â
LIU got off to a fast start, scoring in the first inning on a bases-loaded one-out fielder's choice.
Â
Then in the bottom of the second with freshman Kristen Giery on second, Ergle took LIU pitcher Elena Valenzuela deep to left field on the first pitch of her at-bat.
Â
In the seventh inning, junior Emme Martinez made a stellar read, as the LIU lead runner at second was caught on an island and thrown out for the second out of inning. LIU's next batter then lined out to secure the 2-1 win.
