Eagles Fall To Syracuse, 89-79

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Despite four players scoring in double-figures, Boston College fell to Syracuse, 89-79, in an ACC game at Conte Forum on Thursday night.
Senior Emma Guy shot 7-for-12 from the floor and 9-for-11 from the foul line for a team-high 23 points and six rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Soule shot 5-for-7 from the field for 18 points, while sophomore Makayla Dickens pitched in with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Sophomore Marnelle Garraud contributed 15 points.
Syracuse was led by Kiara Lewis with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Teisha Hyman contributed 16 points and seven steals.
BC is now 12-10 overall and 5-6 in the ACC. Syracuse improved to 11-11 and 5-6 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles fell behind 22-17 after the first quarter as the offense could not get going. BC did not hit a field goal until Makayla Dickens three-pointer at 2:05. BC stayed close by hitting 10 of 14 foul shots in the quarter.
- Syracuse slowly pulled away behind a late run behind three three-pointers. The Orange shot 4-for-10 from the arc as they took a 44-31 lead at the half. Kiara Lewis had 12 for Syracuse, while BC was led by Makayla Dickens with 10 points.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule was 5-for-5 from the floor, scored 10 of her 12 points as BC cut the 'Cuse lead to nine points after three quarters. The Eagles were 10-for-18 from the floor (55.6%) but turnovers prevented BC from chipping away at the Syracuse lead.
- The Eagles cut the lead to seven points with 1:26 to play behind a three-pointer from Makayla Dickens, 84-77. Syracuse pushed it to ten points on two free throws from Lewis. BC shot 50 percent from the floor in the quarter but three turnovers in the final 35 seconds stopped any thoughts of a comeback.

- Senior Emma Guy scored in double-digits for the 17th time this season. She was 7-for-12 from the floor, six rebounds and three steals.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule shot 5-for-7 from the floor and finished with 18 points in just 25 minutes. She has tallied double-digits in scoring 15 times this season, including the last five games. Soule entered the game needing just eight points to reach the 500 point mark. She now has 510 career points in 51 career games.
- The Eagles went to the foul line 31 times, second most this season. BC went to the free throw line 32 times vs. Lowell. Two players - Emma Guy (9-for-11) and Taylor Soule (8-for-12) – combined for 17-for-23 from the charity stripe.
- Sophomore Makayla Dickens pitched in with 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. It's the second time this season Dickens has grabbed nine boards. It was also the seventh game she has had six or more assists in a game.
- Sophomore Marnelle Garraud finished with 15 points, four assists and three steals. She continues to lead the ACC with 51 steals.
