
Eagles Open 2020 Season at FGCU Kickoff Classic

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College softball season kicks off the 2020 season down in Fort Myers, Florida for the Florida Gulf Coast Kickoff Classic from Thursday, Feb. 7 to Sunday, Feb. 9.

The Eagles will play five games on the weekend. They will open with LIU on Friday, Feb. 7 at 3:45 p.m. and then play host FGCU at 8:15 p.m. the same day. On Saturday, BC will play UConn at 11:15 a.m. and Delaware at 1:30 p.m. The Eagles will close the weekend against Georgetown on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.

What to Know
- This will be the BC coaching debut for head coach Amy Kvilhaug, who was hired on July 2, 2019. Kvilhaug brings head coaching experience from Radford and St. John's, where she won a combined 400 games.
- BC returns Emme Martinez, who is a two-time All-ACC honoree and was named to the 2019 All-ACC second team as a sophomore. She played in all 53 games last season, starting 52 of them, while hitting .321 with 50 its and 24 RBI.
- The Eagles have nine newcomers on the roster. Eight are incoming freshmen, while one – Peyton Schnackenberg – transferred to BC from Syracuse.
- Gianna Boccagno is back for her sophomore campaign, where last year she tied the team-high with 24 RBI.
- BC was picked 13th in the preseason ACC poll, earning 16 total points.

BC is back next week, traveling to Atlanta where the Eagles will play Nebraska and Iowa in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge at Georgia Tech.
