No. 4 Eagles Beat BU 4-1 to Capture 17th Regular Season Title

BOSTON – No. 4 Boston College defeated rival Boston University 4-1 in the 282nd Battle of Comm Ave on Saturday at Agganis Arena to clinch its 17th Regular Season Championship in the 36-year history of Hockey East.
It marks Boston College's fourth regular season title in the last five years. BC will be the No. 1 seed for the Hockey East Tournament, which begins on March 13.
The Eagles (23-8-1, 16-6-0 HEA) swept the regular season series from the Terriers to push their overall winning streak to seven. BC posted its third straight 4-1 victory at Agganis and moved to 5-1-1 in its last seven road trips to BU.
Rookie Alex Newhook extended his point streak to 10 games with a first period goal, becoming the first BC freshman since Colin White (2015-16) to reach 40 points. Senior captain David Cotton tallied his 15th goal of the year and moved into the top-50 all-time scorers in program history with 127 career points.
Senior Connor Moore netted his second of the year for the eventual game-winner and was plus-3 in the victory, while classmate Graham McPhee picked up an empty-netter in the closing seconds.
Spencer Knight pushed his personal winning streak to seven, stopping 30 of the 31 Terrier shots he faced.

7:00, BC Goal (1-0) • From the left wing circle, Matt Boldy swung a pass to the weak side for Newhook, who settled the puck and wristed a shot to beat Sam Tucker (25 saves) glove side.
2nd Period
7:48, BC Goal (2-0) • Marshall Warren backhanded a pass to Moore at the right point and the senior defenseman's low shot found its way under Tucker's pads through traffic.
3rd Period
4:40, BC Goal (3-0) • Logan Hutsko picked up a loose puck at neutral ice and danced into the BU zone before dishing off to Cotton in the left circle for a high blocker side finish.
8:52, BU Goal (3-1) • On the power play, David Farrance's center point one-timer was deflected by Patrick Curry in the slot to beat Knight.
19:52, BC Goal (4-1) • McPhee skated onto a loose puck along the left wing boards and cut into the low slot before finishing a backhander into an empty net.
