WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Alex Newhook won another Hockey East weekly award on Monday as the league's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, earning the honor for the third time this season.Â
The freshman registered a team-high four points in a home-and-home sweep of No. 10 Northeastern over the weekend. After picking up an assist on Thursday in a 3-2 victory at Matthews Arena, he posted a goal and two assists with a plus-4 rating on Friday in a 10-1 home win at Kelley Rink.
Newhook extended his career-high point streak to eight games with an 8-9-17 scoring line during that span. The Newfoundland native ranks second among all NCAA rookies in goals (17) and points (36). Overall, he sits 13th nationally in goals per game and points per game.Â
No. 4 Boston College (21-8-1, 14-6-0 HEA) has combined to win six Rookie of the Week awards this season. BC has ripped off five straight victories to take over sole possession of first place in Hockey East with four games remaining.
The Eagles host Merrimack on Thursday (Feb. 27) at 7 p.m. and visit rival Boston University on Saturday (Feb. 29) at 7 p.m. for the Battle of Comm Ave. Both games will air live on NESN.
