
Soule Leads Eagles Past UNC, 93-75

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sophomore Taylor Soule scored a career-high 29 points, along with 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season as Boston College (15-10, 8-7) defeated North Carolina, 93-75, in a Sunday afternoon ACC matchup.
The win set a new program record for most ACC wins with an 8-6 mark. The Eagles also improved to 15-10 overall, the first time BC has won 15 games since the 2015-16 season. North Carolina dropped to 16-10 and 7-8 in the ACC.
Soule was a dominant force for the Eagles as she scored 14 of her 29 points in the third quarter as the Eagles built a 66-54 lead going into the final 10 minutes. She also had 12 boards for her team-high eighth double-double.
Sophomore Marnelle Garraud contributed 17 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor and 4-for-7 from the three-point line. Senior Emma Guy added 14 points with six boards while sophomore Makayla Dickens pitched in with 12 points and five rebounds.
North Carolina was led by Shayla Bennett with 17 points and nine boards, while Madinah Muhammad chipped in with 16 points and seven boards.
Boston College will host Pittsburgh on Thursday night at 7. Carolina will travel to Wake Forest on Sunday, Feb. 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Boston College came out of the gate strong, opening the game with an 8-2 run. Senior Emma Guy converted a Tar Heel turnover into points at the other end of the floor with a lay-up.
• The Tar Heels chipped away at the Eagle lead, utilizing a mini 4-0 run of their own to hold a 15-14 advantage after the first period.
• Trailing by one, freshman Jaelyn Batts sparked an 8-3 run and the Eagles led, 29-2.
• With under 50 second remaining the second period, Marnelle Garraud connected with senior Taylor Ortlepp for a corner three to send the Eagles into the locker room with a 36-33 lead.
• Soule converted the traditional three-point play following a fast-break lay-up to give BC its largest lead, 49-39, with 6:46 to play in the third. The Eagles continued their momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Tar Heels, 15-11, to take a 51-44 lead entering the media timeout.
• Soule capped off a 6-0 run towards the end of the third quarter to give BC a 16 point lead. BC outscored UNC, 30-21, in the quarter and held a 66-54 lead after three.
• BC outscored North Carolina, 27-21, in the fourth quarter with Soule netting 10 of the 27 points.
