Newhook Named Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Forward Alex Newhook was named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday along with UMass defenseman Zac Jones.

Newhook had a pair of multi-point games last week for the Eagles, including a goal and an assist in his Beanpot debut against Boston University. He added a goal and an assist on Friday against No. 14 UMass Lowell, including his second shorthanded goal of the year for BC's nation-best seventh.

Newhook now leads all Hockey East freshmen in goals with 12. The Newfoundland native is fourth among NCAA rookies in scoring average with 24 points in 25 games and has at least one point in 15 of his last 19 contests. He has scored six goals in his last nine games and has three multi-point games in his last five.

Boston College faces No. 17 Harvard in the consolation game of the 68th Beanpot this afternoon at TD Garden. Faceoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
