WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Sophomores Matt Boldy and Spencer Knight shared the Hockey East Player of the Week Award on Monday following a dominant home-and-home sweep of No. 12 Providence.
Boldy earned Player of the Week honors for the second straight week. The forward had four points on two goals and two assists against the Friars, finishing the series with a plus-4 rating. He assisted on Trevor Kuntar's game-winning goal on Friday at home, then scored twice including the game-winner and a shorthanded tally on Saturday in Providence.
Knight posted back-to-back shutouts for the Eagles, extending his shutout streak to 132 minutes and his personal unbeaten streak to 13 straight games (12-0-1) dating back to last season. Knight stopped all 66 Friar shots he faced over the weekend and collected his sixth and seventh career shutouts, moving into sixth place all-time in program history.
Boldy, Knight, and classmate Drew Helleson departed on Sunday for Team USA's camp in Plymouth, Michigan in preparation for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, which is set for Dec. 25 to Jan. 6 in Edmonton, Alberta. The final 25-player U.S. roster will be announced on Dec. 13 prior to the U.S. departing for Edmonton.
