Karnik Granted Immediate Eligibility Waiver

The 6-9, 230 lb. transfer from Lehigh can compete for the Eagles tonight vs Florida
BUBBLEVILLE, Conn. — Boston College senior forward James Karnik was granted immediate eligibility from the NCAA on Thursday. Karnik transferred to BC from Lehigh at the start of the 2020-21 academic year. He will play this season and have a full season of eligibility remaining in 2021-22.
Karnik, a 6-9, 230 lb. center, averaged 12.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals this past season at Lehigh. He missed 10 games due to injury, but earned the start in 18 of the 22 games in which he appeared. Karnik connected on over 57% of his field goal attempts - and nearly 60% inside the arc during the 2019-20 season. He reached double-digits in the scoring column 15 times, including six double-doubles in points and rebounds.
The native of Surrey, British Columbia saw action in 83 career games for the Mountain Hawks, averaging 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds while connecting on 54.5% (317-582) of his field goal attempts. He has totaled 768 points and 543 rebounds in his first three seasons of college basketball. As a prep, he starred for Orangeville Prep in Toronto, helping the team capture the OSBA title with a 21-2 overall record.
