Eagles Late Rally Falls Short; Drop 97-93 Decision to St. John's

Wynston Tabbs had 23 and CJ Felder a career-high 18 in the loss
BUBBLEVILLE, Conn. -- Wynston Tabbs scored a team-high 23 points to lead four Boston College players in double figures, but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to St. John's, 97-93, at Bubbleville at Mohegan Sun on Monday night.
St. John's led, 92-79, with 2:39 remaining before Boston College went on a 12-1 run as the Red Storm turned it over five times in six possessions.
Down 96-93 Boston College turned it over with 17.6 seconds left but St. John's did the same on the ensuing inbound pass. On the next possession, Tabbs grabbed an offensive rebound after a missed 3-pointer from Heath and stepped back to the 3-point line in the corner, but was blocked by SJU's Julian Champagnie.
BC built a 10-point advantage early on, taking a 19-9 lead after a CJ Felder 3-pointer. Felder finished with a career-high 18 points. But St. John's would flip the script, taking a 52-40 lead into the halftime break.
Jay Heath, who returned to the starting lineup after missing the Rhode Island game, and Makai Ashton-Langford each scored 13. Rich Kelly added 11 off the bench for BC.

- CJ Felder made 7-of-9 shots on the night, improving his season FG% mark to 75.0% (12-16). He has also made 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

- The 93 points were the most in a single-game since Dec. 4, 2018 - a 100-95 overtime loss to Providence. The last time BC scored at least 93 points in a regulation game came on Jan. 1, 2017, tallying 96 vs. Syracuse.
