Eagles Selected as Hockey East Preseason Favorite

BC picked No. 1 for third straight season and fourth time in the last six years
BOSTON – For the third straight season and fourth time in the last six years, Boston College has been selected as the preseason favorite in Hockey East as the league announced its annual Coaches Poll on Friday morning.
The Eagles received eight of a possible 11 first place votes and finished with a total of 95 points in the poll. Massachusetts earned a pair of first place votes and ranked second overall with 87 points, while Providence was tabbed third with 77 points.
UMass Lowell (71) finished fourth in the poll and garnered the final first place vote, while Northeastern (68) and Boston University (55) ranked fifth and sixth respectively. UConn (48), UNH (44), Maine (27), Merrimack (23) and Vermont (10) rounded out the 11-team poll.
BC is coming off its league record 17th Hockey East Regular Season Championship following a 17-6-1 record in conference play last season. The Eagles are No. 2 nationally in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey national preseason polls.
The Eagles begin their 99th season of men's hockey against New Hampshire next Friday (Nov. 20) at 7 p.m. on NESN and WEEI 850-AM at Kelley Rink.
Boston College home games at Conte Forum will be held without fans as a result of COVID-19.
