Ben Ruffing clocks personal-best 25:05 for eight-kilometers
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Ben Ruffing clocked a personal-best time of 25:05 for eight-kilometers, helping Boston College to a seventh-place finish at the Florida State Invitational on Friday morning.
Ruffing hit the 5K split at 15:37.7 in 34th place and closed the final 2,000 meters strong, passing 12 runners en route to his 22nd place finish.
John Seiberlich and Edward Tristine finished 46th and 47th, respectively, each crossing the finish line in 25:40.2. The Eagles' duo ran together for much of the race.
Steven Jackson and Adriano Barilla rounded out the BC scorers, finishing in 52nd and 57th place, respectively. Jackson clocked 25:50.3, while Barilla ran three seconds behind. BC's 1-5 spread was 45 seconds. Â
Gordon Pollock (63rd, 26:01.0) and John Wacker (66th, 26:04.6) rounded out the Boston College top seven finishers. Erik Linden placed 82nd (26:37.4) and Jack Carter was 85th (26:40.6).
As a team, BC finished seventh overall with 198 points, ahead of Alabama, Auburn, and Miami. Georgia took the team title.
Boston College returns to action on Friday, Oct. 30 in Cary, N.C. for the 2020 ACC Cross Country Championship.
