Guy, Soule Lead Eagles to Victory over Notre Dame

Emma Guy and Taylor Soule record double-doubles in 75-65 victory.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Senior Emma Guy and sophomore Taylor Soule each recorded a double-double to lead Boston College past Notre Dame, 75-65, at Purcell Pavilion on the campus of Notre Dame.
Boston College improved to 9-6 (2-2 ACC) while Notre Dame dropped to 6-10 (1-3 ACC).
Guy was 5-of-11 from the floor and finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Soule shot 6-for-9 from the floor, grabbed 12 boards with three assists for a team-high 19 points. Red-shirt sophomore Cameron Swartz added 14 points, while senior Georgia Pineau pitched in with 10 points.
Notre Dame was led by Destinee Walker with 21 points, while Sam Brunelle added 15 points.
Boston College pulled away in the third quarter as the Eagles outscored Notre Dame, 26-14 to take a 63-49 lead with one quarter to play. Soule shot 3-for-3 from the floor and hit 6-of-8 from the foul line for 12 points in the quarter, while Makayla Dickens (9 points) added six points in the frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior Emma Guy and sophomore Marnelle Garraud had six points apiece as BC and Notre Dame played to a 22-22 tie in the first quarter. Notre Dame had a five point lead but the Eagles wiped it away by pounding the ball inside to Guy and Taylor Soule, who chipped in with five points.
- The two teams battled until the Eagles pulled away for a five point lead behind a 7-0 run in the final two minutes. Cameron Swartz sparked the run with a three-pointer from the corner followed by layups from Milan Bolden Morris and Jaelyn Batts. Notre Dame cut the lead to three points, 37-34, at the half with a bucket from Sam Brunelle with 27 seconds left the quarter.
- A 7-0 run to start the third quarter gave BC a 44-37 lead as Notre Dame took a timeout at 7:52. The Eagles pushed the lead to 53-40 behind six straight points from Soule. She finished the quarter with 12 points in the quarter as the Eagles outscored Notre Dame, 26-14, to take a 63-48 lead after three quarters.
- The Eagles held the lead throughout the fourth quarter as Soule and Guy continued to dominate inside. Notre Dame got within nine points of the Eagles with 3:44 left in the game. Guy hit a layup to push the lead to 11 points and a jumper by Georgia Pineau (10 points) extended the lead, 75-62. BC's defense held Notre Dame to 2-for-9 from the floor in the final 3:44 to seal the win.
GAME NOTES
- This was the 30th meeting between Boston College and Notre Dame. It was the first time since 2006 the Eagles defeated Notre Dame. It is the first time BC has won at the Purcell Pavilion.
- Boston College out-rebounded Notre Dame, 45-34. The Eagles had 20 offensive rebounds. It was the 11th game BC has had the edge on the boards.
- The Eagles had 17 assists on 29 field goals.
- Senior Emma Guy recorded her second double-double of the season (11 points, 12 rebounds). It was her 10th career double-double.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule led BC in scoring for the sixth time this season. It was also her second double-double (19 points, 12 rebounds). It was also the fourth game in a row that Soule has recorded double-figures in rebounds.
