Knight Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Spencer Knight took home his second Hockey East monthly award on Monday as the league's Goaltender of the Month for December.

Knight made a pair of starts against No. 9 Notre Dame in a home-and-home sweep of the Fighting Irish in early December, stopping 53 of the 54 shots he faced for a .981 save percentage. He closed the month on a personal nine-game winning streak.

The rookie posted a 26-save shutout on Dec. 6 in a 4-0 home victory, then allowed just one goal in a dominant 6-1 win on Dec. 8 in South Bend. He currently leads Hockey East with four shutouts and ranks second in GAA (1.73) and SV% (.940) in 15 starts.

Knight missed Saturday's win over Vermont as he returned from the Czech Republic, where he started for Team USA at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships. He made four starts in the tournament for the U.S. with a 2.49 GAA and .913 SV%.

The Darien, Connecticut native was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Month and the National Rookie of the Month in November.
