French, Kellett & Shapiro-Thompson earn spot ACC Academic Team
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Three Boston College men's soccer student-athletes – senior Adam French, senior Joe Kellett and freshman Amos Shapiro-Thompson – have been named to the 2019 All-ACC Academic Men's Soccer team.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
French, a native of Westborough, is a four-year member of the team. He scored his first career goal and game-winner against Quinnipiac in the season opener Quinnipiac on Aug. 29. He closed out the season with nine starts in 17 games. Prior to this season, French played in 15 games and had two assists. French is also the President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Kellett, a native of Norfolk, started and played in 17 games this past season. He tallied a career-high three goals with an assist for a career-high seven points. Kellett scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over UMass Amherst and three days later scored on a penalty kick to earn a tie at Virginia Tech. In his two seasons at Boston College, Kellett missed one game as he started every game in the 2018 season.
Shapiro-Thompson, a native of Worthington, played in 15 games with 13 starts. Despite missing two games with an injury, Shapiro-Thompson finished the season third on the team with four goals, one assists for nine points. An All-ACC Freshman team honoree, Shapiro-Thompson was second on the team in shots and third in shots on goal. He scored his first collegiate goal in the 2-0 win over Quinnipiac in the season opener.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
