Hamilton's Career-High 23 Paces Eagles Past Virginia Tech

BC snaps four-game slide with a 61-56 win over the Hokies on Saturday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Jairus Hamilton poured in a career-high 23 points as Boston College earned a 61-56 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday.
The sophomore forward connected on 7-of-11 from the floor, including a career-best five 3-pointers, while pulling down eight boards in 32 minutes of play.
BC jumped out to a 10-5 lead, as Jay Heath and Hamilton each connected from beyond the arc. But VT would score 12 unanswered, connecting on four straight 3-pointers, taking a 17-10 lead with 12:45 to go in the first half. The Hokies entered the afternoon as the ACC's top 3-point shooting team.
The Hokies led by as many as 10 points - 22-12 with 7:31 to go in the period. BC would cut into the deficit as it dialed up the defensive pressure. The Eagles closed the half on a 14-6 push and trailed 31-26 at the break.
Boston College continued to chip away at the Virginia Tech lead, using defense to start its offense. Heath and Jairus Hamilton opened the second half with 3-pointers and BC trailed 37-35 with 15:38 to go. Each team traded baskets for the next seven-plus minutes before the Hamilton brothers took over. Trailing by four, Jairus Hamilton drained a 3-pointer with 5:49 to play, making it 49-48.
Over the next 3:44, Jairus and Jared Hamilton scored the next 12 points for the Eagles. Jairus' 3-ball with 2:05 left gave BC a 57-53 lead. A late 3-pointer from the Hokies got them within one possession - 59-56 with 31 ticks remaining - before Jairus Hamilton sealed the win with two shots at the charity stripe.
The Eagles shot 43.8% (21-48) from the floor - including 10-of-21 in the second half. BC made 8-of-20 from beyond the arc (40.0%) for the game, including 4-of-7 during the final 20 minutes of play.
