Eagles head to No. 14 Florida State next Thursday
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Boston College women's basketball team fell to Virginia Tech, 70-49, at Cassell Coliseum in an ACC road game on Thursday night.
Boston College is now 10-9 and 3-5 in the ACC. The Hokies improved to 14-4 and 4-3 in the conference.
The Eagles offense never got going as they shot just 29 percent from the floor and lost the battle on the boards, 41-35. Sophomore Makayla Dickens led BC with 12 points and six rebounds, while sophomore Taylor Soule added 11 points and five rebounds. The only other player in double figures for BC was Marnelle Garraud with 10 points.
Virginia Tech was led by Trinity Baptiste with 20 points and Aisha Sheppard with 19 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles shot just 20 percent in the first quarter and fell behind 18-7. Virginia Tech extended the lead to 24-15 at the first media time out of the second quarter with a six point run by Trinity Baptiste. The Hokies finished the half on a 9-4 run behind two three-pointers from Aisha Sheppard. BC shot just 24 percent in the first half as Virginia Tech took a 35-19 halftime lead.
- Sophomore Makayla Dickens came out of the looking to score. The guard scored seven straight points and Virginia Tech's lead was just 11 points, 37-26. That was the closest BC would get as the Hokies lead grew to as much as 21 points. A three-pointer by Marnelle Garraud with 37 seconds left in the quarter cut the lead to 54-36.
- BC continued to struggle offensively shooting just 23 percent from the floor in the quarter. The Hokies outscored BC, 16-13, in the final quarter to pull out the win.
