
Eagles Open Spring at Ivy Schools Dartmouth and Brown

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's tennis opens the spring season on Saturday (Jan. 18) with a 12 p.m. road match against Dartmouth at the Boss Tennis Center. On Monday (Jan. 20), the Eagles travel to face another Ivy League opponent Brown in Providence at 1 p.m. Live video of the Dartmouth match is available via ESPN3.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
• Saturday will also mark the spring opener for the Big Green
• The schools have met 15 times since 2006 with BC holding a 9-6 advantage in the series
• Boston College defeated Dartmouth 6-1 in last year's spring opener in Chestnut Hill
• Kylie Wilcox, Yufei Long, Natasha Irani and Laura Lopez all posted singles victories
• Last season, the Big Green finished with a record of 4-17-1 and went 1-6-0 in the Ivy League

• Martin Luther King Day will be the season opener for the Bears at the Pizzitola Sports Center
• BC beat Brown 6-1 at home last year, winning all but one singles match and two of the three doubles matchups
• Long, Wilcox and Irani won in straight sets from the top three positions
• The Bears went 10-13 overall and 2-5 in conference play last season
FALL FINALE
• BC closed its fall season at the Brown Classic in November as Elene Tsokilauri and Irani each earned singles victories
• Tsokilauri defeated Julia Newman in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 5 slot, while Irani beat Columbia's Christie Wan 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2
• Tsokilauri also paired with Long to earn a 6-3 doubles victory against Brown, as did the team of Lopez and Hailey Wilcox
LEADERS ANNOUNCED
• Seniors Kylie Wilcox and Elene Tsokilauri were named the new captains for the 2019-20 season prior to the fall season
• Last season as a junior, Wilcox was named to the All-ACC Third Team
• She went 20-8 overall in doubles, including a 12-3 mark in ACC play, and 14-7 with last year's captain Jackie Urbinati
• Tsokilauri went 7-14 overall last year and posted ACC victories over Virginia Tech and No. 15 Florida State at fifth singles

• Head coach Nigel Bentley has announced the addition of Doug Maynard as the Eagles' new assistant coach
• Maynard is a U.S. Professional Tennis Association Elite Professional who has trained ATP touring professionals and numerous Division I scholarship recipients
• Since 2012, Maynard has served as the tennis director at the JCC of Greater Boston in Newton
• He was previously the athletic director of Cannon School in Concord, North Carolina after working a decade at Charlotte Christian School
• Maynard began his coaching career at his alma mater UNC Asheville and was named Big South Conference Men's Coach of the Year in 1986
