Newhook Earns Hockey East Rookie of the Week Award

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Alex Newhook has been named the Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week following a three-point weekend against 10th-ranked UMass.
Newhook scored the Eagles' lone goal on Friday night at Kelley Rink and finished with a career-high seven shots on goal. He then registered a pair of primary assists in Saturday's 6-3 victory at the Mullins Center and closed the weekend with a plus-2 rating.
The Colorado Avalanche first round pick is tied for eighth among all NCAA freshmen in scoring with 16 points in 18 games. He has at least one point in 10 of his last 12 games and ranks fourth among Hockey East rookies with seven goals.
Fifth-ranked Boston College travels to Tsongas Center on Friday (Jan. 17) to face No. 13 UMass Lowell at 7 p.m. BC returns to Chestnut Hill for the Battle of Comm Ave against Boston University on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 7 p.m. on NESNplus.
