Eagles Suffer First Home ACC Loss; Fall to Georgia Tech

CJ Felder led BC with 13 points; Steffon Mitchell tallies double-double (10 pts/11 reb.)
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College dropped its first home game in ACC play on Saturday night in a 71-52 loss to Georgia Tech.
BC shot 29.8% (17-57) from the floor - its second-lowest FG% in a game this season.
Both teams got off to a slow start, combining to hit just 4-of-13 through the first four and a half minutes. Jay Heath connected on a 3-pointer and a driving layup to give BC a 10-9 lead with 11:15 remaining in the first half. But the Yellow Jackets would respond with an 8-0 run and would never look back the rest of the way. BC went scoreless for more than six minutes before CJ Felder scored six quick points, to make it a 19-16 game with 4:25 to go. Georgia Tech closed the half on an 11-7 push, taking a 31-23 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Eagles through the first 4:18, taking a 40-27 lead. They built as much as a 21-point advantage, after a Jose Alvarado 3-pointer made it 67-46 with 3:03 to play.

- Jairus Hamilton - who came off the bench after suffering an eye injury in practice leading up to the game - added seven points.
- Julian Rishwain corralled a season-best seven rebounds.
- BC connected on 3-of-18 from beyond the arc - tying for the second-lowest 3FG percentage of the season (16.7%)
- Boston College was outrebounded, 40-34.
- 42 - Boston College yielded a season-high 42 points in the paint to Georgia Tech.
- Steffon Mitchell led the Eagles with an efficiency mark of 19.  Â
- CJ Felder logged a 12 EFF rating.
