Maddy McArthur backstopped the Eagles to season-opening a weekend sweep of Merrimack.
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Hockey East announced Monday that Boston College sophomore Maddy McArthur has been named the league's Player of the Week after she backstopped the Eagles to a weekend sweep of Merrimack.
The St. Catharines, Ontario native earned a 25-save shutout for BC in a 2-0 win at Merrimack on Friday night in the season-opener. McArthur made 12 saves in the first frame before going on to earn her sixth career shutout. On Saturday, she stopped 23 of 24 shots in the Eagles' 3-1 win, including 11 over the final 15 minutes of the game.
McArthur's .980 save percentage on the weekend was tops in the country among goaltenders who started two games.
This marks her fifth career weekly honor from the league, as she was named Rookie of the Week three times last season along with one Defensive Player of the Week honor.
