
No. 8 Eagles Top Merrimack For Weekend Sweep

Three players scored for the Eagles in the Hockey East win.
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Three different players scored for the No. 8/8 Boston College women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon and the Eagles skated to a 3-1 win over Merrimack at Lawler Rink.
After Merrimack went up 1-0 late in the first period, Hadley Hartmetz potted her first career goal on the power-play before the intermission. Savannah Norcross then scored for the second consecutive game in the second frame on the power play.
One minute into the third period, Olivia Finocchiaro scored her first of the year and then Maddy McArthur went to work, making 11 saves over the final 15 minutes of play.
McArthur (2-0-0) finished with 23 saves while Lea-Kristine Demers (0-2-0) had 27. The Eagles had the 30-24 edge in shots on goal while going 2-for-8 on the power play and keeping Merrimack at 0-for-8. Cayla Barnes finished with two assists while seven players total had at least one point for the Eagles.

- 1st, 15:19 | 0-1, MC GOAL: A point shot found its way to the top of the crease and McArthur was able to poke it away with her stick but two Merrimack players converged and Gabby Jones turned and shoveled a forehand shot past the left pad.
- 1st, 17:46 | 1-1, BC GOAL: Kelly Browne won a draw to Hannah Bilka on the right halfwall and the freshman stickhandled to the top of the right circle before setting up Hartmetz for a one-timer at the top of the opposite circle. The slap shot found the upper left corner of the net.
- 2nd, 15:28 | 2-1, BC GOAL: From the top of the right point, Barnes threaded a pass to Caroline DiFiore on the right faceoff circle. DiFiore turned herself to goal and put a pass under the defender's stick to Norcross for a quick redirect at the top of the crease.
- 3rd, 00:39 | 3-1, BC GOAL: Bilka skated up to the blue line and across before dishing a pass to Barnes on the top of the right circle. Barnes went down the right circle, centered a pass and Finocchiaro redirected it past Demers' glove.
- BC is now 15-1-0 all-time against Merrimack with a mark of 7-1-0 at Lawler Rink.
- The win marked the 450th for the Boston College women's hockey program.
- Hadley Hartmetz's score was the first of her career … Hannah Bilka picked up her first career point with an assist on the Hartmetz score … Caroline DiFiore earned her first career assist.
- This marked the fifth multi-assist game of Cayla Barnes' career and her seventh multi-point game.
- Savannah Norcross scored for the second consecutive game … it was her second consecutive game-winning goal.
