Eagles Compete at Three Regattas in New England

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College sailing team competed at three New England Regattas over the weekend, setting sail for the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, Sherman Hoyt Trophy and in the NEISA Showcase Qualifier.

BC placed 11th in the Mrs. Hurst Bowl with 106 points, as Emma Batcher and Laura Ferraris totaled 46 points to tie for fifth in the A division and Elizabeth Shanahan and Eliza Wright totaled 60 points to place 12th in the B division.

The Eagles then competed for the Hoyt Trophy, placing fifth with 230 points. Sophia Reineke and the tag-team of Mikayla Mathieu (races 1-8) and Declan McGranahan (9-16) finished in fourth in the A division scoring 110 points, while Robert Hunter, Katharine Bowman (1-10, 13-16) and Elizabeth Russell (11-12) placed sixth in the B division with 120 points.

Lastly, at the NEISA Showcase Qualifier, BC finished fourth with 162 points behind its top division finish on the weekend. Scott Rasmussen and Nicole Moeder placed sixth in the A division with 98 points before Thomas Walden and Lilly Mathieu scored 64 points to place second in the B division.

BC is back next weekend, Sept. 28-29, competing for the Danmark Trophy, Smith Trophy and in the first round of the Women's Showcase.
