Naughton, Phillips Named Eagles of the Week

Naughton named URI Tournament MVP, Phillips helped football to win at Rutgers.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College junior Clare Naughton and graduate student John Phillips have been named the Musco Lighting Eagles of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

In the football team's 30-16 win over Rutgers, Phillips graded out as BC's top lineman after finishing with four knockdown blocks. The Phoenix, N.Y. native helped the Eagles rush for 272 yards and four rushing touchdowns while averaging 4.5 yards per carry and not allowing a sack.

Naughton was named the URI Tournament's Most Valuable Player and helped the volleyball team win the tournament. Naughton matched a career-high with 17 kills against URI and added 14 kills against Harvard, 13 against UAlbany and nine against Bryant. The Atlanta, Ga. Native also registered three blocks in the wins over Harvard and URI and two against UAlbany. Naughton earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
