
Eagles Conclude Nonconference Play at Art Carmichael Invitational

The volleyball team will face Bryant, Rhode Island and UAlbany before beginning ACC contests
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team wraps up non-conference play with one final tournament as they head to Rhode Island to participate in the Art Charmichael Invitational. In Kingston, the Eagles will take on Bryant (3:00 PM) and hosts Rhode Island (7:00 PM) in a doubleheader on Friday before matching up with UAlbany on Saturday (4:00 PM). The Eagles earned their seventh win of the season after defeating Harvard on Wednesday night in five sets. Sophomore Jewel Strawberry led the effort with a double-double, recording 16 kills and 16 digs, while senior Carly Kutschke marked a career-best with five blocks.
Bryant enters the tournament with a 5-7 overall record, earning wins over North Dakota, Marist, Providence, Kent State and Binghamton. Sophomore Caroline Kennedy holds the top spot in points, tallying 96.0 so far this year with 86 kills. Junior Alisi Motu'apuaka has 173 assists. Defensively, Haley O'Brien leads the block effort with 29 total. Libero Erika Ward has tallied 121 digs so far.

The Rams hold a 3-6 record as hosts of the tournament, earning wins with a 3-1 win over Central Connecticut and sweeps of Saint Peter's and Iona. Gabrielle Schilling claims the top scoring position for URI, tallying 101.0 points with 92 digs over their nine matches. On the defensive front, Gillian Klise has 22 blocks - including seven solos - while libero Ella Ratzloff has put up 149 digs.
The Great Danes enter with a 2-8 overall record, only finding wins over Abilene Christian and Youngstown State. Akuabata Okenwa leads the offensive pace with 126.0 points and 109 kills while Malea Stanton has an impressive 245 assists. Anna Chalupa has recorded a team-best 92 digs while Danielle Tedesco leads with 36.0 blocks.
Following the tournament, the Eagles jump into conference play with a weekend trip south to visit  Clemson (Sept. 27, 7:00 PM) and Georgia Tech (Sept. 29, 12:00 PM)
