
Watkins, Alberghini Added to Eagles Staff

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College softball head coach Amy Kvilhaug has announced the additions of Olivia Watkins and Matt Alberghini to round out her coaching staff for the 2020 season. Watkins will be in charge of infield, slapping and base-running, while Alberghini will lead hitting, catchers and outfield.
"I love the experience, energy and commitment Olivia and Matt bring to the program," said Kvilhaug. "I'm very excited to have them in place on our staff. We are eager to work together in helping lead the program into a new era of Boston College softball."
Watkins comes to Chestnut Hill from Dartmouth College, where she served as an assistant coach since 2017. At Dartmouth, she was in charge of the infield, hitting, base-running and defensive positioning. Watkins also oversaw all travel and equipment needs. Prior to her time with the Big Green, Watkins made a stop at the University of Illinois, serving as a volunteer coach.
Watkins completed her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies at Western Kentucky, in 2015. She finished her career with program records for batting average (.380) and stolen bases (117), plus ranked in the top five with a .421 career on-base percentage, 130 runs, 200 hits and 55 multi-hit games. As a senior in 2014, she set WKU single-season records for batting average (.442), runs (51), hits (87) and stolen bases (55 in 58 attempts).
Alberghini arrives at BC from the University of Washington where served as a graduate manager and helped the team reach the 2019 College World Series and win the PAC-12 Championship for the first time since 2009. Prior to his time in Seattle, he also served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh for a season.
A 2017 graduate from Coastal Carolina, Alberghini earned a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Sport Management prior to earning a Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership – Coaching from Washington in 2019.
