Dempsey Arsenault, championship MVP, was the only rookie named to the All-Star team
BALTIMORE, Md. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team saw two members earn All-Star recognition from the Women's Professional Lacrosse League, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Recent graduate Dempsey Arsenault joins assistant coach Kayla Treanor as BC's representatives on the All-Star lineup.
Arsenault was the only rookie named to the 2019 WPLL All-Star Team as she flawlessly transitioned from a top college player to a top professional player. The 2019 graduate was selected second overall in the 2019 WPLL Draft, and immediately became one of the WPLL Brave's key contributors. Arsenault led the league in points (18), assists (7), and ground balls (17) while also collecting 22 draw controls, good for the 4th most in the league. 2019 season highlights include Arsenault's 4G, 1A, 8GB, 5DC, and 5CTO performance against the Fire on 6/23 and her Championship MVP performance against the Fight (4G, 1A, 4GB, 3DC). Arsenault earned IWLCA Midfielder of the Year as a senior with the Eagles, starting each contest of her career en route to three consecutive national championship appearances.
Treanor, a 2016 Syracuse graduate who has been with the Eagles for the past two seasons, became one of the most dominant attackers in the WPLL. She was a key reason why the Fight were able to play an undefeated 2019 regular season. Treanor's 13 goals are good for the second most in the league this season, tied with teammate Katrina Dowd. Treanor's first season with the WPLL is highlighted by her Championship game performance where she led all scorers with seven goals, a 2019 season single-game record.Â
