NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second straight year, Boston College junior running back AJ Dillon has been named to the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list as announced by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Friday. Dillon is one of 40 players across the country to land on this season's watch list after being one of 50 players recognized ahead of the 2018 season.
Dillon is one of five players on the watch list representing the ACC and one of seven running backs.
As a sophomore, he was elected to the All-ACC First Team as he rushed for 1,108 yards and 10 touchdowns in just 10 games; becoming the first player in BC history to rush for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons. He led the ACC with 110.8 rushing yards per game, which ranked 13th in the country.
Dillon was the 2017 ACC Rookie of the Year and ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year; the first BC player to win either award. He finished his freshman campaign with 1,589 rushing yards, which ranked seventh nationally and second among all freshmen.
In 23 career games, Dillon is ninth all-time in rushing yards at BC with 2,697. He has scored 25 touchdowns, including 24 on the ground, and eclipsed the 100-yard mark in 12 games.
