Eagles host Northwestern as part of ACC/Big Ten Challenge; four games in the Gotham Classic
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College has released its 2019-20 men's basketball non-conference schedule, highlighted by four postseason teams, four games in the Gotham Classic, and the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Â
The 2019-20 regular season begins with an ACC matchup, with BC hosting Wake Forest on Wednesday, Nov. 6. With the league moving to a 20-game conference slate in 2019-20, as well as the launch of the ACC Network, a total of seven conference matchups will be held during the first two days of the playing calendar. The game between the Eagles and Demon Deacons will air live on either ESPN2 or ESPNU.
The Eagles play their first non-conference game on the road, heading to USF on Sunday, Nov. 10. The Bulls return their entire roster from a squad that captured the 2019 CBI title and finished 24-14 overall.
BC returns to Chestnut Hill to host five straight home games, including a trio of games to open play in the eighth annual Gotham Classic - High Point (Nov. 13), Belmont (Nov. 16), and Eastern Washington (Nov. 20). Belmont posted a 27-6 overall record a season ago, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second round before falling, 79-77, to Maryland.
De Paul visits Conte Forum on Nov. 23 in the second game of the home-and-home series with the Blue Demons. Last season, BC earned a 65-62 comeback victory in Chicago. De Paul won 19 games in 2018-19 and advanced to the championship round of the CBI, eventually falling to USF.
On Nov. 27, the Showcase game of the Gotham Classic features two Jesuit institutions of higher learning, as Saint Louis visits the Heights. The defending Atlantic 10 champions, the Billikens return three starters from a team that won 23 games en route to earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
BC closes out a busy month of November with a trip to Richmond on Nov. 30 in a continuation of its multi-year series with the Spiders.
On Dec. 3, Northwestern visits the Heights as part of the 2019 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. This will be Boston College's 12th appearance in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and the Eagles hold a 7-4 mark in the event. Last year, BC earned a 68-56 win at home over Minnesota on Nov. 26, 2018. This will be the sixth meeting between the Eagles and Wildcats on the hardwood. Northwestern has captured the last two matchups, including an 85-67 win in the second round of the NIT at Conte Forum on March 19, 2011. Tip times and network assignments will be announced at a later date.
After a pair of home contests - on Dec. 10 versus Albany and Dec. 15 against Central Connecticut - Boston College heads to San Francisco to take on California at the Chase Center, as part of the inaugural Al Attles Classic on Dec. 21. BC and Cal are part of the inaugural quadruple-header at the new home of the NBA's Golden State Warriors. Other games featured as part of the Al Attles Classic are Stanford vs. San Diego, Arizona vs. St. John's, and Saint Mary's vs. Nevada.
Individual game, group ticketing, and full season ticket plans are now on sale.
