Charlotte North, Rachel Hall and Bridget Simmons join the lacrosse team as transfers
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Three transfers have joined the Boston College women's lacrosse team ahead of the 2020 season, as announced by head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein this week. Junior attackers Charlotte North and Bridget Simmons join sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Hall as the newest additions to the Eagles' roster.
"We are thrilled to welcome these transfers to the Boston College women's lacrosse program. We believe they will make an immediate impact on the success and character of our program," commented assistant coach Kayla Treanor. "All three of them are outstanding lacrosse players and even better people. We are so excited for them to join our family."
North, a Dallas, Texas native, joins from Duke University where she finished her sophomore campaign averaging a third-best in the nation 4.32 goals per game. She led the Blue Devils in scoring as a sophomore, tallying 105 points through 82 goals and 23 assists. She was a two-time Tewaaraton Watch List and All-ACC Second Team honoree while earning placement on the IWLCA All-South Region First Team as a sophomore. North recorded a hat trick in 15 of the Blue Devils' 19 games this past season.
"We are so excited to welcome Charlotte and her entire family into the fold of our program," commented Walker-Weinstein. "We've been watching Charlotte in awe for years and not only is she a game-changer, but her skill and tenacity can positively affect others around her, be an asset to our recruiting and strengthen our program for years to come. She is the type of player we wish we could start coaching today! She will enhance our program's culture by prioritizing her teammates and building strong relationships that allow her to do what she does best on the field. We are absolutely thrilled to have her join our BCWLax family!"Â
Hall joins the program from the University of Oregon where she led the country in saves with 246 through only 18 games as a rookie. The Cypress, Texas native capped off her freshman season with a .498 save percentage en route to earning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors. Averaging 13.67 saves per game, Hall put up double-digit saves in 14 games over her freshman season and was most recently named to the USA U19 Team where she will compete in the World Cup Championship this summer.
"Rachel is coming off a tremendous year and will exceed expectations at the upcoming 2019 World Cup Championship; we are thrilled to have been chosen by Rachel and her family to now join our program. She is the type of goalie that rarely comes around and we're honored and excited to be coaching her. We look for Rachel to add depth and national team experience to our already battle tested roster," added Walker-Weinstein.
Simmons tallied five goals and one assist in 12 games as a sophomore for the University at Albany, tallying a career-high four points against Hartford. From Milton, Mass., Simmons was the leading scorer for Notre Dame Academy as a senior, putting up 50 goals and 10 assists.Â
"We are so excited to add to the depth of our roster with Bridget," commented Walker-Weinstein. "She will be a great addition to the attack and we look forward to integrating her into the system. She is a great person, humble yet hungry, and we are excited for what the future holds!"
"While we didn't accomplish our ultimate goal of winning a National Championship, my staff and I feel strongly that our program got stronger this offseason,' shared Walker-Weinstein. "This summer, I have been overwhelmed by my incoming senior class and the leadership and commitment they have shown since we battled Maryland in May. Certainly, the future is bright for the BCWLax program and my staff and I feel honored to be a part of it."
