Frelick, Morissette Named Freshman All-Americans

One of two ACC duos recognized by Collegiate Baseball News.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Boston College outfielder Sal Frelick (Lexington, Mass.) and second baseman Cody Morissette (Exeter, N.H.) were named to the Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-America Team on Wednesday. BC is one of two ACC programs with two players to earn Freshman All-America along with North Carolina.

Frelick and Morissette are the fifth and sixth Freshman All-Americans in Boston College baseball history. Recently, Chris Galland earned the honor from CBN in 2018 and Jacob Stevens was honored by both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com in 2016.

Despite his freshman campaign being cut short due to injury, Frelick was named to the All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Freshman Team. He hit a team-high .367 with 32 runs driven in and 30 scored. Frelick stole a team-high 18 bases and led BC with a .447 on-base percentage and .513 slugging percentage on eight doubles, one triple and four home runs.

Morissette, who was previously recognized as a CBN All-America Third Team pick last week, hit .441 (26-for-59) in the second half of ACC play to hit .320 for the season. An All-ACC Second Team and ACC All-Freshman team pick, he led the Eagles with 20 doubles and 41 RBI. His 20 doubles are tied for seventh most in a single season at BC. Morissette capped his season by being named to the ACC All-Tournament Team. After hitting just two home runs in the regular season, he burst on to the playoff scene with two home runs in BC's championship-opening win over Clemson.
