GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released its 2019 Division I All-American teams on Wednesday, and defender Elizabeth Miller, midfielder Dempsey Arsenault and attackers Sam Apuzzo and Kenzie Kent were named First Team All-Americans.
Â
Miller, four-year starter for the Eagles, was a two-time Tewaaraton nominee and a three-time All-America selection over her career. She headed the defense while balancing a key role on the draw circle, winning control of 79 draws over the season. Rounding out her career, she earned placement on the All-ACC First Team and All-Northeast Region First Team, helping the Eagles reach their third consecutive national championship appearance.
Â
Kent led BC and the nation in scoring this past season, racking up 127 points on 52 goals and 75 assists. The graduate student set the single-season program assist record just 12 games into the season before going on to hit her 75 total on the year. Kent also picked up 35 ground balls, 25 draw controls and caused 10 turnovers.
Â
Arsenault was the second-best goal producer on the team, playing a crucial balance between offense and defense for the Eagles over their 22-2 overall season. Arsenault totaled 92 points on the season while picking up a team-high 45 ground balls and winning a solid 100 draw controls. She also became BC's first-ever ACC Midfielder of the Year and joined Apuzzo on the list of five Tewaaraton finalists, marking the first time in program history that the Eagles had two athletes on the list of finalists.Â
Â
Apuzzo had another standout season in her collegiate finale, putting up 94 goals and 30 assists for 124 points on the year and earning her second straight ACC Attacker of the Year title. She also led the Eagles to become the first-ever team to surpass 400 draw wins, winning a program record 191 herself over the season. She ended the season as the second-most productive point scorer in the nation, only behind Kent.
