Women's Sailing Set To Compete in the Final

The Boston College women's sailing team placed second in the Eastern flight of the Sperry College Women's Sailing Semifinal Championship today and qualified for the Finals. The top 18 teams from two flights qualify for the final competition. The finals will begin tomorrow and end on Friday.
The events are hosted by Brown University with the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) also supported by the University of Rhode Island at host site Sail Newport Sailing Center in Fort Adams State Park in Newport, R.I.
"Everything is wiped out from the first two days and you will see a big different in the strength of the field tomorrow,'' said BC head coach Greg Wilkinson. "We are expecting weather relatively the same as today. We got a sea breeze later in the day. We expect the same tomorrow and we sailed pretty well at that point.''

BC's A boat handled by Isabella Loosbrock, Emma Perry (races 1-10 & 13) and Katharine Bowman (races 11-12a) finished second to Brown with 63 points. In the B Division - Sophia Reineke (races 1-12), Emma Batcher (race 13), Tara Ferraris (race 1-12) and Caroline Rochford (race 13) – placed first with 43 points, while Brown was second with 55.
Following Friday's final, the team race will begin on Saturday. Round one of the competition will have all 16 teams (FJs & Z420s).
