Eagles Soar Past Lowell, 5-2

Sophomore Gianna Randazza leads BC to victory.
BRIGHTON, Mass. – Sophomore Gianna Randazza had two hits and two RBI to lead Boston College past UMass Lowell, 5-2, in a non-conference game on Tuesday at the Harrington Athletics Village.
Boston College improved to 17-32, while Lowell is now 25-17. BC now leads the overall series, 4-0.
The Eagles had 11 hits with five runs and left five on base. Randazza led the attack with two hits, including her first career triple and two RBI. Freshman Ellie Mataya went 2-for-2 with two runs, while fellow rookie Carlie Sanders added two hits, including her first triple and an RBI.
BC freshman pitcher Camryn Dolby went four innings, gave up two runs and struck out seven.
Lowell's Kaysee Talcik took the loss as she gave up 11 hits with five earned runs in six innings. She gave up two doubles and two triples. Offensively, Maria Moccio had a two-run home run for the River Hawks.
BC went up 1-0 in the first when Lexi DiEmmanuele scored on a single by Allyson Moore. The Eagles pulled away in the fourth inning with a three runs on four hits.
Mataya opened the inning with a single to right. Randazza tripled to right center to tie the game at 2-2. Jules Trevino pinch ran and scored when Sanders triple to center for a 3-2 lead. Freshman Kristin Giery doubled to center and BC held a 4-2 lead.
The Eagles tacked on the final run in the fifth when Randazza singled to left scoring Mataya.

- The Eagles will host non-conference foe Dartmouth on Wednesday at 4 p.m. It is the final regular season home game of the season.
