CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's hockey program officially drafted 5-year-old Josh Bello from Needham through the national nonprofit Team IMPACT on Thursday during a ceremony with his family at Conte Forum. Josh was diagnosed in 2018 with a kidney disorder called Nephrotic Syndrome.
Through Team IMPACT's program, Josh becomes an official member of the Eagles and will attend practices, games, team dinners, events, and more. The team met Josh near the end of last season as he joined the Eagles for their run to the Hockey East Championship Game.
Headquartered in Boston, Team IMPACT connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,700 children with more than 500 colleges and universities in 49 states, reaching over 50,000 participating student-athletes.
