Three Eagles earn academic honors.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Georgia Pineau, freshman Makayla Dickens and freshman Marnelle Garraud have been selected to the 2018-19 All-ACC Academic team, announced by the conference on Friday.
This is the first time since the 2014-15 season BC had more than one player on the conference All-Academic team. All three are first-time honorees.
Pineau played in 30 games with 26 starts this past season. She averaged 8.1 points and 5.6 rebounds a game, while leading the team in blocks (32).
A native of Victoria, Australia, Pineau has played in 88 career games with 76 starts. She is just six points from 800 career points and is now tied in 20th with 533 career rebounds on the all-time list.
Dickens, a guard voted to the All-ACC Freshman Team, played in all 30 games with 18 starts. She was the third highest scoring freshman in the ACC (11.8 ppg.) and averaged 5.3 rebounds a game. She finished the regular season eighth overall in assists in the ACC (3.8 asp.).
A native of Virginia Beach, Dickens recorded three double-doubles, all against ACC teams. She scored a season-high 25 points vs. Florida State and had a career-high 16 rebounds at Wake Forest.
Garraud, a native of Lynn, Mass., played in all 30 games and recorded 22 starts. She averaged 8.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Garraud led BC in steals with 49 and shot a team-high 80 percent from the foul line.
She netted a career-high 28 points in the win over Rider at the St. Joseph's Thanksgiving Tournament in November. She was named the tournament MVP for her performance. That week she also was named the ACC Rookie of the Week, BC's Eagle of the Week and the Jesuit Player of the Week.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
