Eagles Finish Opening Weekend at Stanford Invitational

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — The Boston College women's track & field team opened its 2019 outdoor season this weekend at the Stanford Invitational.
On Saturday, Paige Duca came back to run 2:10.34 in the 800m, completing her weekend double. On Friday, Duca finished sixth in the invitational 1,500m field, clocking a time of 4:21.16. Gianna Bender also competed in the 800m, crossing the line in a time of 2:11.44.
Amanda Sinkewicz placed ninth in the collegiate javelin throw, with a toss of 38.46m (126'02").
In the 4x400m relay, BC's quartet of Monica Heil, Abby Gothers, Jessica Creedon, and Gianna Bender combined to run 3:56.14.
Several other Eagles began competition on Friday. Julia Lyons finished seventh in the invitational long jump, with a leap of 5.81m (19'00.75"). Her best mark of the competition came on her first attempt.
Emeline Delanis toed the line in a star-studded 10,000m field and opened her outdoor season with a time of 33:07.85.
Jessica Creedon competed in three events - the high jump, as well as the 100m and 400m hurdles. She placed second in the collegiate high jump, clearing the bar at 1.61m (5'3.25"). In the 100m hurdles, Creedon clocked 14.91, while registering a time of 62.65 in the 400m. Emma Taylor (64.33) and Sarah Heckel (66.35) also raced in the 400m hurdles.
In the 400m, Monica Heil registered a time of 57.82, while Abigail Gothers crossed the line in 59.26. Sarah Heckel (59.67) and Emma Taylor (61.13) also competed in the 400m.
Lauren White (16:50.83) and Fian Sullivan Sweeney (16:58.31) raced in the 5,000m run.
