BC Well-Represented at 2019 IAAF World XC Championship

Nicole Clermont and Kayla Smith will run for Team USA in U-20 race; former Eagle All-American Liv Westphal will compete for France
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Two current Boston College student-athletes will be representing the United States this weekend at the 2019 IAAF/Mikkeller World Cross Country Championship.
Nicole Clermont and Kayla Smith will be among the 104 athletes across 28 different countries on the starting line of the U-20 race in Aarhus, Denmark on Saturday, March 30. The race is scheduled to start at 6:35 a.m. ET/11:35 a.m. local time and will cover 5,740m - or approximately three laps of mostly grass-covered course at the Moesgaard Museum.
Clermont and Smith finished 1-2 at the USATF Junior Cross Country Championship on Feb. 2 in Tallahassee, Fla. Clermont covered the 6,000m course in a time of 21:14, followed close behind by Smith in 21:18.2.
Additionally, former BC All-America standout Liv Westphal will be racing in the senior women's race, representing France. Westphal - the 2016 Eagle of the Year - captured the French national championship earlier this month in Vittel, France.
