Barnes, Keller Garner USCHO Honors

Both BC blue liners earned All-USCHO Division I honors from the organization.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Two Boston College women's hockey players earned All-USCHO Division I honors for the 2018-19 season, as announced Friday by the organization. Megan Keller was named First Team All-USCHO while fellow defender Cayla Barnes was named to the USCHO All-Rookie squad.
Overall in 2018-19, Keller led the nation's blue liners in points (43), goals (19), goals per game (0.50), points per game (1.13), power-play goals (7) and game-winning goals (5). Keller's plus-39 rating and 3.32 shots on goal per game average both ranked fourth among defenders. Among all skaters in the country, Keller ranked in the top 20 in goals (t-19th), assists (t-18th), points (t-14th), power-play goals (t-2nd), power-play points (t-13th), game-winning goals (t-8th), and plus-minus (t-8th). She was on the ice for 57 percent of BC's even-strength goals. Keller registered at least one point in 28-of-38 games played and had 11 multi-point outings on the year. Keller had eight game-winning points, scoring five and assisting on three.
Barnes put up 23 points on four goals and 19 assists in her rookie season, good for a tie for 14th in the country among all first-year players and tied for 13th in the country among all defenders. She blocked 74 shots on the seasons to lead BC and sit third in the nation among rookies. Barnes led all rookie defenders in Hockey East scoring (3-13-16) and tied for fourth overall among all rookies. Barnes' nine power-play points ranked tied for seventh among rookies while her 3.03 shots on goal per game was second among all first-year blue liners.
Both Keller and Barnes will be members of the U.S. National Team that is set to kick off the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championships in Espoo, Finland from April 4-14.
