
Keller, Watts Honored by New England Hockey Writers

Pair of Eagles recognized by area media for outstanding 2018-19 seasons.
BOSTON – Boston College women's hockey senior Megan Keller and sophomore Daryl Watts were both honored by the New England Hockey Writers for their 2018-19 seasons, the organization announced today. Keller was named the Division I Player of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-New England team while Watts earned her second consecutive All-New England nod.

Keller proved to be one of the nation's most dynamic players this season, impacting play at both ends of the ice on offense, defense and special teams. She was on the ice for 57 percent of BC's even-strength goals. Keller registered at least one point in 28-of-38 games played and had 11 multi-point outings on the year. Keller had eight game-winning points, scoring five and assisting on three. The Eagles surrendered 23.10 shots on goal per game, fourth fewest in the country. Keller was the 2019 Hockey East Player of the Year and was the unanimous selection as the Hockey East Best Defenseman in addition to a unanimous selection to the conference's All-Star First Team. It was the second time in her career being named the league's player of the year, third time being named the best defender and the fourth time in being named an All-Star First Team honoree.

Overall in 2018-19, Keller led the nation's blue liners in points (43), goals (19), goals per game (0.50), points per game (1.13), power-play goals (7) and game-winning goals (5). Keller's plus-39 rating and 3.32 shots on goal per game average both ranked fourth among defenders. Among all skaters in the country, Keller ranks in the top 20 in goals (t-19th), assists (t-18th), points (t-14th), power-play goals (t-2nd), power-play points (t-13th), game-winning goals (t-8th), and plus-minus (t-8th). This is Keller's third time being named to the All-New England team and her second time being named the NEHW Player of the Year.

Watts finished the 2018-19 season with a team-high 48 points on her 22 goals and 26 points and tied for the team-lead in game-winning goals with five. Her 48 point-total was good for 11th in the nation and fourth among Hockey East skaters. The sophomore's 33 points in conference play on 15 goals and 18 assists was good for fifth overall in Hockey East scoring. Watts potted three game-winning goals in conference play and assisted on two others. Her 4.44 shots on goal per game total was sixth in the league and she was a plus-19. Watts had eight game-winning points on the season, scoring five while assist on three others. She earned at least one point in 30 of BC's 39 contests, including 15 multi-point outings. This is Watts' second consecutive year on the All-New England team, and she was also the 2017-18 NEHW Player of the Year.
Boston College (26-12-1) finished the 2018-19 season ranked sixth in the country after advancing to its ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
