
Eagles Drop Road Test at No. 37 Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – Boston College women's tennis got off to a strong start on Sunday against 37th-ranked Georgia Tech, but the Yellow Jackets responded in singles play for a 5-2 ACC victory. The Eagles fell to 11-7 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
Boston College's top doubles team of Yufei Long and Kylie Wilcox clinched the doubles point to open the match with a 6-4 victory over Nami Otsuka and Gia Cohen. Natasha Irani and Loren Haukova also teamed up for a convincing 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
As the match shifted to singles, Irani dominated Cohen and dropped only two games in a 6-0, 6-2 triumph to give BC a 2-0 lead. Georgia Tech came back to win the other five singles matchups, including a tight match in the No. 3 slot with Valeriya Deminova slipping past Jackie Urbinati 7-5, 7-5 to secure the overall match.Â
Laura Lopez went to a third set against Nadia Gizdova in the final match to finish but dropped that set 7-5 in No. 6 singles.
Boston College hosts Houston next Friday before traveling to face Louisville in ACC play on Sunday afternoon.Â
