February 08, 2019 | Men's Hockey
LOWELL, Mass. – 15th-ranked UMass Lowell clinched the regular season series against Boston College with a 3-0 Hockey East victory at Tsongas Center on Friday night. The River Hawks extended their unbeaten streak to nine straight games (8-0-1) and ended BC's run at three.
The Eagles (10-13-3) dropped to 9-5-3 in Hockey East and fell a point behind Lowell (16-8-2, 10-4-2 HEA) for second place in the standings.
After a tight, defensive first period, UMass Lowell scored all three of its goals in the middle frame to take control of the contest.
Ryan Dmowski finished a backdoor one-timer following a BC turnover to open the scoring at 5:47. Nick Marin then squirted a weak-angle shot through Joseph Woll's pads for a shorthanded goal near the midway point of the game.
The River Hawks extended their lead on the power play a few minutes later, finding a seam across the Eagles' defensive zone to catch Woll off balance.
BC out-shot UML 12-5 in the third period but couldn't solve Tyler Wall, who posted the shutout with 28 saves.
