BC Carries Three-Match Winning Streak Into ACC Play

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team carries a three-match winning streak into the beginning of ACC play this weekend against a pair of ranked opponents. The Eagles travel to face 11th-ranked Notre Dame on Friday (Feb. 8) at 3:30 p.m. in South Bend, Indiana before hosting No. 13 Virginia at 12 p.m. and Merrimack at 5 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 10). WEEKEND RECAP
Boston College (3-1) extended its winning streak to three matches with victories over Boston University (5-2) and Southern New Hampshire (6-1) at home last weekend. The Eagles' No. 1 doubles team of Derek Austin and Sean Mullins won both their matches 6-0 and 6-4, helping BC clinch the doubles point each day. The duo remains undefeated in the spring, while Austin is a perfect 4-0 individually. Austin and Alexander Chieffalo earned victories in both of their singles matches in straight sets last weekend.

SCOUTING REPORT
Notre Dame enters the weekend 6-1 but is coming off its first loss of the season to Illinois at home last night. Last season, the Fighting Irish finished 8-4 in conference play before falling to Wake Forest in the ACC Semifinals. Notre Dame came from behind to beat BC 4-3 in Chestnut Hill during the regular season. Virginia is 5-1 this spring with its only loss coming at Notre Dame 4-3 last Friday. The Cavaliers have an ACC win over Louisville and non-conference victories over Cal, Texas A&M, and Kentucky. Last year, UVA defeated BC 5-2 in Charlottesville.
