Sydney Lowery leads BC with a team-high 12 points.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Boston College women's basketball team lost to No. 4 Louisville, 87-51, on Sunday at the KFC Yum! Center in an ACC match up.
With the loss, Boston College is now 14-14 and 3-12 in the ACC. Louisville improved to 25-2 and 12-2 in the conference.
Sophomore Sydney Lowery shot 5-for-7 from the floor and hit 2-for-3 from long range to lead BC with a team-high 12 points. Lowery also had five rebounds. Junior Emma Guy added 10 points and four rebounds.
The Cardinals were led by Asia Durr with 23 points, while Kyle Shook finished with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Louisville hit 8-of-15 from the floor in the first quarter, including seven points from Asia Durr to take a 23-11 lead. BC shot just 27 percent as Lowery led the Eagles with five points in the first quarter.
BC shot 50 percent from the floor in the second quarter but struggled to cut into the Cardinals lead. The closest the Eagles cut into the deficit was 14 points on a three-pointer from Milan Bolden-Morris with 1:15 to play. However, Louisville was able to take advantage of BC turnovers to build a lead to 45-27 at the half.
An 8-3 run by BC in the third quarter cut the Louisville lead to 13 points. The Cardinals finished the quarter on a 9-0 run to take at 66-39 advantage into the final 10 minutes.
BC went scoreless in the first three minutes of the quarter as Louisville responded with an 8-0 run. The Eagles ended the run with a layup by Georgia Pineau (eight points, five rebounds) at 6:16 in the quarter.
BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Sydney Lowery finished with 12 points and five rebounds. It was the seventh game this season Lowery tallied double-figures. She also earned her fifth start of the season.
- Junior Emma Guy added 10 points, for her 19th game scoring in double-figures this season.
- BC went 5-for-12 from long range. Lowery hit two from the three-point line, as did fellow sophomore Milan Bolden-Morris (2-for-3, 8 points).
