Eagles Close EISA Championships with Pair of Top-30's in Slalom

NEWRY, Maine – The Boston College alpine teams closed the 2019 season with a pair of top-30 finishes on Saturday at the EISA Championships, which were contested at the Bates Carnival at Sunday River.

Trent Gutstein was the top men's finisher in the slalom on Saturday with 26th overall after skiing a time of 1:58.22, roughly seven seconds off the pace. Chris Bertram narrowly missed a top-40 finish as his time of 2:01.45 was good for 41st. Tyler Wetzel placed 60th for the Eagles, while senior Aaron Taylor did not qualify for the second run.

Parker Biele led the women's team with her second top-30 finish of the weekend, taking 28th in the slalom with a combined time of 2:03.15. Natalie Wetmore (2:07.47) and Madeline Davis (2:08.76) placed inside the top-40 for BC, while Kelsie Grant (2:10.46) was 41st in her EISA debut. Senior Amanda Steffey was 54th in her final collegiate race.

Saturday marked the final event of the season for the Eagles and first-year head coach Craig Marshall.
