Hannah Bilka Named National Rookie of the Month

The HCA award comes on the heels of her league Rookie of the Month honor.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey forward Hannah Bilka has been named the Women's Hockey Commissioners' Association National Rookie of the Month, it was announced on Wednesday by the organization.

Bilka led all rookies in the first month of the season in points (14), goals (10), power-play goals (4), power-play points (5), game-winning goals (3) and shots on goal (37). Bilka was one of just two rookies to score a short-handed goal last month and one of four to record a hat trick. In a win at Holy Cross on Oct. 3, she recorded BC's 10th-ever four-goal game.

The Coppell, Texas native had at least one point in seven out of the eight contests in the first month of the season and factored in on four game-winning goals total, scoring three and assisting on one other. She also scored one game-tying goal to factor in on five game-deciding goals last month. She had five multi-point games and three multi-goal games.

Bilka was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month on Nov. 1. She has also been recognized by the league for two weekly awards, taking home Player of the Week on Oct. 7 and Rookie of the Week on Oct. 28.
The freshman currently has a team and league-leading 18 points on a league-best 10 goals and eight assists and will carry a nine-game point streak into Saturday's game at UConn.
