SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Boston College women's basketball team lost to Charlotte, 84-68, in the first game of the Puerto Rico Clasico at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriquez on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game.

Boston College was led by senior Emma Guy with 19 points and nine rebounds while redshirt sophomore Cameron Swartz added 18 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charlotte jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first five minutes on a 7-0 run capped off by a jumper by Christian Hithe (17 points). The Eagles battled back and cut it to three points on a layup by Emma Guy with 1:11 to play. A three-pointer from Mariah Linney (25 points) put the 49ers up, 21-15, after the first 10 minutes.
- The two teams battled in the second quarter as the Eagles outscored the 49ers, 20-17, behind eight points from Guy. BC cut it to one point twice in the quarter, including at 1:01 to play on another inside bucket from Guy. Two foul shots with 48 second to play by Jazmine Harris gave Charlotte a 38-35 lead at the half.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule tied the game, 40-40, on a layup at 8:05 in the third quarter. BC took a two point lead behind a three-pointer from Marnelle Garraud with 7:21 to play. Charlotte would outscore BC, 18-5 in the final five minutes of the quarter to take a 15 point lead, 64-49.
-The closest BC would get to the 49ers was 11 points with 4:19 to play in the game after a layup by Garraud.

- BC held a 24-18 lead on the boards at the half. The battle ended in a tie with 34 boards for both teams. BC did grab 15 offensive boards in the game.
- The Eagles hit just four three-pointers in the game. The first came at 9:15 in the third quarter when Cameron Swartz hit her first of two long range shots.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule pitched in with 11 points on 5-for-10 from the floor. She grabbed three boards and had two steals.
