Eagles Fall To Providence, 76-60

Taylor Soule leads Eagles with 18 points.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Boston College women's basketball team fell to Providence, 76-60, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference game at Alumni Hall in Providence, Rhode Island.

Boston College is now 2-2 and will host Rhode Island on Thursday night at Conte Forum. Providence improved to 3-0 and will travel to Monmouth on Wednesday.

Sophomore Taylor Soule led the Eagles with 18 points and seven rebounds, while senior Emma Guy added 10 points and six boards.

Providence was led by Kaela Webb with 18 points and Kyra Spiwak pitched in with 17 points.

The Friars hit six of their first seven shots, including two three-pointers to jump out to a 14-4 lead. Providence took an 11 point lead after the first quarter and extended the lead at the half, 49-31. The Friars shot 65.5 percent from the floor in the half.

Boston College outscored the Friars in the second half, 29-27, but the closest the Eagles got was 14 points with under a minute to play in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Providence took a 10 point lead as the Friars shot 6-for-7 from the floor  in the first five minutes of the game and took a 14-4 lead. The lead grew to 21-6 behind Kyra Spiwak's second three-pointer of the half with 3:22 to play. Providence held a 23-12 lead after the first 10 minutes as Spiwak had eight points and Chanell Williams pitched in with six.
-Boston College battled back as Soule scored six points in the first three minutes of the quarter to cut the lead to nine points, 30-21, at 7:07. Providence pulled away on a 9-0 run to end the half as BC's offense went silent in the final 2:35. The Friars held a 49-31 lead at the half.
- BC opened the quarter on a 4-0 run behind a layup from Soule and hook from Emma Guy. Providence responded with a 7-0 run to go up 56-35 behind Spiwak's third three-pointer. Hevynne Bristow hit two consecutive three-pointers to push the Friars lead to 64-39 with 4:03 to play in the third quarter. Despite a BC five-point run at the end of the quarter Providence led, 66-49, heading into the final quarter.
- BC held Providence to just three field goals but couldn't make a dent in the lead. The Friars didn't score a field goal in the final 4:19 but held on for the 76-60 victory.
