November 13, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Stefan Sigurdarson Named To All-ACC Third Team
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Freshman Stefan Sigurdarson was named to the All-ACC Third Team while also earning a spot on the All-ACC Freshman team with teammates Amos Shapiro-Thompson and Victor Souza, as released by the conference today.
This is the second time Boston College landed three rookies on the All-ACC Freshman team. In 2009, Kyle Becker, Charlie Rugg and Justin Luthy were all named to the team.
Sigurdarson, a native of Iceland, led Boston College with seven goals, four assists for 18 points, along with three game-winning goals. He is ninth in the ACC in goals scored and in the top-10 in shots taken, points scored and game-winning goals.
The first-year forward started every game this season and had a goal or assist in eight games. He finished the season with three goals and two assists in the final four games of the season. Sigurdarson tallied two goals in two games and had three multiple-point games.
Shapiro-Thompson, native of Worthington, Mass., played in 12 games with 10 starts. He finished the season second in scoring on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points. The midfielder had a goal or assist in five games.
Souza, a native of Ozone Park, N.Y., played every minute of every game on defense this season. It was Souza's maturity and composure that helped the team remain strong on defense despite being hindered by a number of injuries throughout the season. The young backline helped the team earn five shutouts.
The Eagles finished the regular season with an 8-5-3 overall record and 2-4-2 ACC record. BC is currently 19th in the latest NCAA RPI.
